The Grossmans are back!

Rabbi Jacob Grossman and his Wife Rashi Return to Santa Cruz!


The Grossmans, who have been coming to Santa Cruz for two weeks during the last few summers, will be returning this year. Their focus, once again, is on celebrating Shabbat, commemorating Tisha B'Av and spending one week of nighttime learning concentrating on one of the basic mitzvot of Judaism. The learning is done in a chavruta beit medrash fashion where everyone is able to participate and contribute.

The following is the schedule of events that will take place during the Grossman's visit:

Saturday, August 9 (Shabbat afternoon and Tisha B'Av)
- Mincha will start at 6:00 PM, followed by Seudah Shlishit
- Ma'ariv will start at 9:05 PM, followed by a reading of Megillat Eichah and a talk about the significance of Tisha B'Av

Sunday, August 10 (Tisha B'Av)
- Shacharit will start at 9:00AM, followed with group readings and discussions of the Kinot.
- Mincha will start at 6:20PM, followed by a talk on Tisha B'Av and a break fast supper

Monday to Thursday, August 11 - 14 (Week of learning)
- Nightly lessons about the mitzvah and significance of the Shema, 8 - 10PM. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday, August 16 (Shabbat afternoon)
- Mincha will start at 6:30PM, followed by a Seudah Shlishit of lively singing, tasty victuals and camaraderie
- Shabbat will end with Maariv and Havdalah.
